Summer 2026 Enrichment Classes
College for Kids provides fun, informative classes to students entering 3rd through 8th grades. We are seeking instructors to offer enrichment classes June 22 - 25. If you are interested and/or have questions, please contact Brenda Helms at (815) 835-6212.
Mixed Media Art Adventure
Get creative with paint, collage, drawing, and more! In this hands-on class, students
will explore different art materials and techniques to create unique, one-of-a-kind
projects. Perfect for young artists of all skill levels. Supplies included. (Ages 8-14)

Lights, Camera…Improv! Drama Games & Creative Acting
Get ready to act, laugh, and create! In this fun, interactive class, students will
explore theater through exciting drama games, improvisation, and storytelling. Build
confidence, teamwork, and communication skills while trying activities like mirror
acting, silly improv, and mini-performances. No experience needed; just bring your
imagination! (Ages 11 – 14)

Science Fun with Kitchen Chemistry
Explore the wonders of science using everyday kitchen items! In this hands-on class,
students will learn about the properties of matter and how it changes form. Through
tasty experiments and interactive activities, we’ll investigate acids and bases, observe
chemical reactions, and discover how science is all around us, even in the kitchen! (Ages 8-14)

Kids Cooking 101
Get ready for a fun and hands-on activity where young chefs learn kitchen basics!
Students will build essential cooking skills as they practice measuring ingredients,
reading and following simple recipes, and creating tasty snacks. Join us and learn
how fun cooking can be! Supplies are included. (Ages 8-14)

Protein Ball Kitchen Creations
Get ready to mix, roll, and snack! In this hands-on class, students will learn how
to make delicious no-bake protein balls using simple, healthy ingredients. Young chefs
will explore basic kitchen skills, measure ingredients, and create their own tasty
energy bites in a variety of flavors. Students will be using peanut butter. Supplies are included. (Ages 8 - 12)

Move & Groove
This class will get you movin’ to fun music with warmups, stretching, basic dance
moves, and maybe a line dance or two! Students do not need prior dance experience
- this class is for all levels and guaranteed to put a smile on your face! (Ages 8 - 14)

Pokémon® Masters: Designers & 3D Makers Unite!
Calling all PokeMasters who want to be the designers of the future! Use your Pokémon imagination and bring your ideas to life. Begin by creating your own digital Pokémon-style custom-playing card game. Progress onto designing action figures, jewelry, and toys in professional-level modeling software. Learn how to prepare a model for 3D printing and create a design portfolio to showcase your work! No prior experience is necessary and 3D designs will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. (Ages 8-10) Cost: $159

universe where you can create anything you dream of. This class combines game design
concepts, coding, and fun! New developers will learn to use Roblox® Studio software
to reimagine the popular game genres with their own custom code! Student-created games
will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends
and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program (Ages 8-10)

Take a step behind the scenes and uncover the mysteries of artificial intelligence!
This program readies the next generation of AI engineers as they work with customized
machine learning models for a variety of scenarios. Students will also gain experience
in block-based coding skills while building interactive projects and games. From simulating
self-driving racecars to teaching robots how to play video games, push the boundaries
of what is possible with the help of A.I. Students will work in pairs or teams for
most of the program. (Ages 8-10)
Cost: $175
A.I. Designers & Developers
Take a step behind the scenes and uncover the mysteries of artificial intelligence!

Youth Food Service Sanitation
Are you ready to level up your food safety skills and earn a nationally recognized
certification? This class is designed specifically for teens interested in starting
their own culinary business, food service careers, boosting their resumes, and college
applications or leadership roles. Students will learn food safety principles, proper
food handling and sanitation, prevention of foodborne illness, and leadership in food
service environments. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch. The registration deadline
is July 8. (Ages 14 - 18)
Cost: $80
