Tennis Coach Sara Kipping

This season marks Sara Kipping’s 20th year as the Skyhawk women’s tennis coach. A Sauk graduate and former tennis player,

Kipping has coached the women’s tennis program to two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IV titles. Kipping, who received the Region IV Coach of The Year Award in 2002 and 2003, has coached teams that have qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament six times.Her teams also boast runner-up finishes in 1996, 1997 Region IV Tournament, and third place finishes in 1994, 1995, 2004, and 2008.

Her 2001 team was named NJCAA’s Spring Academic Team of the Year for its 3.20 GPA. Kipping has had several players receive the Arrowhead Athletic Conference’s Award. Kristina McWethy, Melissa Vivian, Abby Petrosky, and her daughter, Katie Kipping, have had recently received the Academic All American Award. She has had several women continue to play competitive tennis at different universities throughout the years.

Kipping also coaches the Skyhawk’s men tennis team. She graduated from Sauk with an Associates in Education. As a player she places second in Regionals and was a members of Sauk’s first National Qualifying’s team in 1983.
