Purpose:
The mission is to provide safe shelter, counseling or therapy, information, education and referral for victims of domestic violence and their children; and victims of sexual violence and their significant others; and educates the public about the issues.

Services include 24-hour access to shelter and advocacy, counseling, prevention education, and professional training.
Freedom House has a 24-hour hotline plus emergency and transitional shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence and their children. They have trained legal and domestic and sexual violence advocates. It is fully accessible and secure, featuring electronic monitoring of all doors and close proximity to law enforcement. Advocacy is provided for children and teens, as well as individual and group counseling. Medical and legal advocacy is included. They have free clothing available to clients and their children at Upscale Resale (214 West St. Paul, Spring Valley, IL 61362). Food is provided free of charge to clients and their children. Prevention education provided for prekindergarten to college-aged students. The Crisis Shelter offers 16 beds and transitional shelter offers three, fully furnished apartments. Emergency services are given as needed plus referrals.
