Purpose:

The mission of Henry and Stark Health Departments is to protect and improve the health of the community. The Homemaker Programs provide health care right at your doorstep. They believe that recovery in the comfort of your own home with the support of family and friends is the best choice, for it reduces recovery time. The clinics offer a variety of services to treat and prevent illnesses.

Remarks:

The health department primarily serves Henry and Stark County. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This service is for anyone from Henry, Stark, or Western Bureau counties with an illness, injury, or disability requiring skilled health care may qualify to receive services. Per the doctor's orders, the individual may receive speech, physical, and/or occupational therapy. Other services include skilled nursing and home health aides. Referrals are also provided. Through the Homemakers Programs, the individual gains a companion and who may help with activities of daily living. They can help with assistance with personal care needs, cooking, meal planning, budgeting, errands, laundry, light housekeeping, and transportation. Services needed will be determined by a free evaluation. A physician's order is required to initiate services. Services for the Homemaker Programs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Homemaker Program is a private pay program. A variety of services are offered for children from birth to 19 years old. Premature and other priority newborns and their mothers routinely receive visits from the nurses. Immunizations against polio, varicella, hepatitis, diphtheria, pertassus, tentanus, haemophilus influenzae type B, measles, mumps, and rubella are offered also. You can also receive tuberculin testing, consultation,and treatment. Confidential counseling and blood testing are also offered. You can get a consultation, follow-up and referrals for sexually transmitted diseases. Women can get a mommograms, pap smears, and clinical breast exams at no charge or reduced rates. Educational presentations can be made for groups or organizations covering nutrition, STD awareness and prevention, AIDS, osteoporosis, breast cancer prevention, and others. The Health Department also has WIC Supplement Food Prgram, lead screenings, family case management, and a variety of other services. The Health Department also has wellness and health promotion programs and an environmental health division. The Health Department has been serving thousands of families for over thirty years. The HSCHD team has an experienced and very caring staff who are more than happy to help.
