Purpose:

A community action agency which investigates the frequency, location, character and cause of poverty and coordinates efforts to prevent, alleviate and eliminate poverty through collaboration with the entire community.

Remarks:

The Tri-County Opportunities Council also offers services to Marshall and Stark Counties. Hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Mondays through Fridays. The TCOC offers many programs. The Community Services Block Grant Loan Program gives loans and helps with business plans to small businesses that are willing to hire low-income people or are low-income business owners. The Family and Community Development program helps families work toward their goals and become more self-sufficient by helping with money management, life skills, and individualized case management. The program also offers a Foster Grandparent program, a Head Start program, a Homemaker Program, Housing projects, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Micro-Enterprise Development, Outreach, and scholarship programs.
