Sauk Valley Community College student Bambi Carlson of Morrison (left in photo) has been awarded a scholarship for the 2009-10 year from District 13 of the Illinois Nursing Association (INA). Carlson was presented with the $538 award by District 13 INA Treasurer Maggie White (at right in photo).
Carlson, a student in Sauk’s Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN), is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She plans to graduate in May 2010 and pursue a career as a registered nurse in home health care and hospice. Carlson, who
earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois, became interested in nursing after overseas mission work. She would like to continue medical mission work, earn a master’s degree in maternal nursing, and work to lower the Whiteside County c-section birth rate through further education. Carlson and her husband Erik have six children.
The District 13 INA, which awards this scholarship to students in Sauk’s nursing programs, has helped Sauk nursing students with this award for many years.
