Sauk Valley Community College student Larissa Flynn of Sterling has been awarded the Sterling Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. The scholarship was distributed through the Sauk Foundation.
Flynn, human services major, carries a 3.0 GPA and is a member of Student Support Services (SSS). She plans to graduate from Sauk with an Associate in Arts and transfer to Ashford University to major in health and human services. Flynn would like to pursue a career in social work.
A 2000 graduate of Sterling High School, Larissa is the daughter of Ted and Robin Flynn of Sterling.
The Sterling Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship is one of 80 private donors that provide scholarships to deserving Sauk students each year. These scholarships play a crucial role in helping these students pursue their educational goals.
The Sauk Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps to broaden the educational opportunities and services that SVCC provides for its students. Each year the Foundation distributes scholarships that total more than $160,000.
