Don't Lay an Egg! Sign up for ‘City Chickens' Workshop
Sauk Valley Community College will offer “City Chickens (or Getting to know your inner Ellie May),” a one-day class from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, Room 2L3.
This class will provide the basics of chicken keeping. With all of the food scares these days, many people are going “home-grown” for more of their food. Eggs are no exception. Chickens are a great starter livestock and home-grown eggs are much more nutritious than factory farm eggs.
Cost for this class is $25. Students may register in Sauk’s Office of Admissions, Room 1J1, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays or between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. For more information on this class, call Sauk’s Office of Personal and Professional Development at 815/288-5511 ext. 212.
