Sauk Valley Community College will offer a Department of Transportation (DOT) Required Hazardous Material Training from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, in Room 2L6.

The DOT requires training for employees receiving or shipping hazardous materials. Topics will include new changes in the 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Table, packaging of materials, shipping papers and documentation, recognizing potential hazards when receiving packages, a review of the 2008 Emergency Response Guidebook and Homeland Security training. Participants are encouraged to bring a list of products they ship or receive along with samples of shipping papers.

Cost for this class is $115. Students may register in Sauk’s Office of Admissions, Room 1J1 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays or between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.
