Join Sauk Valley Community College on, Thursday, December 1 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. to participate in World AIDS Day programs.
From 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. there will be information tables set up to for AIDS awareness as well as stations where all are invited to create support ribbons. The Lee County Health Department will also be available to provide information as well as free, confidential rapid HIV testing from 11:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. At 12:30 p.m. participants will be able to listen to Illinois Alliance for Sound AIDS Policy’ Advocate Matt Appleman as he covers AIDS facts, myths, support and overall awareness.
Appleman, a Dixon native, has recently become an advocate to help develop, nurture and support HIV policy and awareness in Illinois. He hopes to erase the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS and spread the proper knowledge needed to understand AIDS.
