Three College for Kids Camps This Summer

Sauk Valley Community College’s last College for Kids camp is coming quick! Make sure to register today!

Sauk and the Discovery Center will offer a Science Camp for fourth through sixth graders. Participants will enjoy a week of incredible science exploration and fun hands-on projects. This camp will feature:

  • LEGO Machine, Monday, July 30. Participants will learn about levers, pulleys and more as they spend the day designing and constructing LEGO contraptions.
  • Backyard Science, Tuesday, July 31. Learn about science in the backyard. Campers will hunt for bugs, do experiments with the sun, practice cartography and orienteering, and much more!
  • Video Games in Real Life, Wednesday, August 1. Campers will not need a controller for this day. Instead they will engineer their own real life video games from Angry Bird catapults to Super Mario obstacle courses.
  • Buzzbots, Thursday, August 2. Create a Buzzbot starting with simple electricity and a motor.

All camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost for either camp is $89 for all four days. To register, call Sauk’s Office of Admissions and Records at 815-835-6273, or stop by the admissions office in Room 1J1. Admissions office hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Thursdays.

For more information about either camp, call Sauk’s Business and Community Education office at 815-835-6212.
