Students in Sauk Valley Community College’s Sonography Program are in high demand.
Employment of sonographers is expected to increase by about 10% from 2022 to 2032,
faster than the average for all occupations, according to the “Occupational Outlook
Handbook” from Bureau of Labor Statistics, current edition. As the population grows
and ages, there will be an increased demand for diagnostic imaging. Sonographers work
in medical imaging departments, hospitals, physician offices, and outpatient clinics.

Additionally, technical proficiency, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication

Ellyn Horn, BS, RT(R), RDMS, RVTEllyn Horn is the Program Coordinator for SVCC Sonography. Ellyn is a diagnostic medical sonographer who is registered in abdomen/small parts, OB/GYN, breast and vascular ultrasound. Ellyn started her education at Sauk Valley Community College obtaining her associate degree in Radiologic Technology. She then went on to obtain her certificate in Sonography and then completed her bachelor degree at Northern Illinois University.
