Skyhawk Baseball
2024-25 Team Outlook
Skyhawks look to continue the newfound success in achieving new heights in 2025. Returning a coaching staff that has been established for 3 seasons, including new coaches who played under Coach Cox helping as well. The culture is set, and the expectations are in place to continue pushing the program in winning ways. The Skyhawks return 18 players from the 24 season that saw 31 wins and a playoff win.
Including top-end pitchers Austin Mattingly (Missouri Southern commit), Brady Richards (Mount Mercy commit) and Tony Ciamprone (Judson commit). Additionally, the Skyhawks return a pair of .300+ hitters to the lineup in Dawson Foster (uncommitted) and Dylan Mroz (uncommitted). Ryan Eads, Manny Alejandro, Shawn Lewis and more also return with significant at-bats and playing time. Additionally, the coaching staff brought in 17 freshmen in the 2024 class who bring the ceiling of this team to a new height.
Coach Cox’s Thoughts on his Team: This team is young and does not return as much as usual as far as experience goes. However, developing and molding this talent is why you get into coaching. Sky's the limit for the freshmen class, and the sophomores are the hardest working group in my 5 seasons at SVCC. I often refer to last year's team as having a very high floor. Our bad days were others’ good days, but the ceiling was not as high as we wanted. This year's team ceiling is much higher than that one, so we have to find ways to get there more often than not. The focus, attention to detail, and overall effort have been far ahead and beyond where my other teams have gotten. This should lead to preparing the right way for games; as a young team, we will see how we battle adversity, but if that can become a habit, this team will make serious noise in Region IV.
