The Maintenance Mechanic’s duties include installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment while following all work practices and procedures. Technicians will maintain a safe work environment, while supporting the internal/external customers and site goals and objectives. This is an entry level position into Maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support the packaging process by making routine and non-routine adjustments assuring high quality product. This includes interaction with others involved in the process to increase efficiency and reduce process losses such as scrap or rework.
· This position requires the person to be mechanically skilled and have the ability use a variety of hand tools and power tools to perform the duties.
· Perform preventive maintenance, changeovers, repairs, and running adjustments. This includes the ability to define and resolve recurring problems by implementing a robust corrective action.
· Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
· This position requires the individual to be ambitious, self-driven, and be very comfortable being hands on.
· This position will require on the job training along with technical education.
· The position requires the person to be solution oriented. Good problem-solving skills are a must and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
· Leadership skills and customer-oriented approach to problems are a must. Must have the ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner. Must have the ability to work in team environment and independently in a productive and efficient way.
· Engage improvement initiatives, and shift meetings. You may be asked to present ideas to others within the operational department or supporting departments.
· Request and/or complete work orders for repairs on equipment.
· Assist Production Line Leads with troubleshooting and machine adjustments.
· Work closely with Maintenance Mechanic 2’s to develop technical expertise on all equipment.
· Prompt escalation to your supervisor of any safety issue, quality issue, or downtime following the established escalation protocol.
· Provide guidance to others when appropriate which could include other Maintenance Mechanic’s and Production Line Leaders. This will include interacting with production to understand and resolve issues affecting line performance.
· May require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
· This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
· Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
· Attendance to work is an essential function of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
· High School Diploma and/or 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
· Basic Mathematical Skills
· Basic Computer Skills: Ability to perform basic computer tasks and has the ability to operate common computer programs.
· Limited Working Proficiency: The ability to satisfy routine social demands and limited work requirements. The ability to read simple prose, in a form equivalent to typescript or printing, on subjects within a familiar context.
· High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.
· Pass a Mechanical Aptitude test.
Preferred:
· Can read measuring devices like micrometers and dial calipers.
· Can read blueprints.
· Know the basic principle of electronics
· Know the basic principles of pneumatics
· Know mechanics, basic drive shaft alignment, bearing replacement.
· Know how to perform preventative maintenance - visual review, oiling, and greasing.
