Camp Lowden is a complete service Boy Scout summer camp which is geared toward providing the outdoor programs of the Boy Scouts of America. Summer camp facilities include tent camping, dining hall food service, rifle range, archery range, pool, waterfront on the Rock River, and programs for scoutcraft, handicraft, and nature instruction. Special programs are available for the first year campers and older scouts. A thirty foot climbing tower and overnight canoe trips challenge even the most seasoned campers. A well stocked trading post is also available during the summer season. Cabins provide the opportunity for units to enjoy winter camping as well. The Boeger Leadership Center is available for scout and non-scout groups to hold training and educational functions. With a main room equiped with a large screen projector, internet connection, bunk rooms that will sleep 40 people, and a full kitchen for meal preparation. The center is one of the newest additions to the camp facilities. Camp Lowden is one of the two camps operated by Blackhawk Area Council, BSA, to have fun! The Blackhawk Area Council serves twelve counties in northwestern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Services and activities include children and youth services through the scouting program, adult leadership training, Boy Scout summer camp, Cub Scout resident camp, unit camping, Order of the Arrow conclaves, Boy Scout religious retreats, the Wood Badge, Camporees, Klondike derbies, Cup scout day camps, Woods of Webelos, Blackhawk Trail hike, and the climbing tower challenge and training. Eligibility: must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.
