Purpose / Notes:
The State’s Attorney’s office is mandated by the Illinois constitution and the laws
of the State of Illinois to represent the people of Ogle County and Illinois in the
prosecution of criminal cases and to represent the county board and county officials
of Ogle County in civil matters. Services: Prosecuting of: criminal statue violators,
Traffic law violators, Conservation law violators, Juvenile criminal offender, Animal
control and health-related ordinance violators. Provide legal advice to the Ogle County
Board., Provide legal advice to and represent the Ogle County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk,
Treasurer, Coroner, County Clerk and Recorder Supervisor of Assessments, Health Department,
and other county agencies and departments. Representation and defense of: The county
in real estate tax objections, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
by providing legal advice and filing petitions in Juvenile Court on behalf of abused,
neglected or dependent minors, Regional Superintendent of Schools, Persons who are
victims of domestic violence, Department of Public Aid and the Department of Labor
in public aid and unemployment compensation fraud cases. Offer legal advice to Ogle
county Board (agencies & departments), Law enforcement agencies within the county.
Many times people come to or call the State's Attorney's Office seeking assistance
on matters that are not within the legal duties of the Office. We can often refer
the person seeking assistance to the appropriate place for help. However, it is important
that people understand the legal limitations of the State's Attorney's Office.
