Function of the Job
Responsible for the research, development, implementation, management, budgeting, marketing, and promotion of personal enrichment and professional development non-credit programs, including short-term career training programs, trips, and experiences for the SVCC district community. Develop and maintain positive relationships with Sauk Valley Community College Alumni and build a strong network.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directly develop, implement, and manage a cost-effective schedule of trips, experiences, personal enrichment, open enrollment professional development courses, and short-term career training programs.
- Establish relationships with third party vendors to coordinate local and extended trips, tours, experiences, and career training programs.
- Oversee the content of the Community Education catalogs.
- Recruit, train, and orientate non-credit instructors for the purpose of teaching professional development and personal enrichment programs.
- Evaluate instructional staff to ensure the quality of course offerings for non-credit courses.
- Manage the CDL Truck Driving programs including meeting with students for orientation and completing Secretary of State audit paperwork.
- Continue to offer and grow the EMT Basic Program and work with the current training provider to expand into a Paramedic program.
- Stengthen SVCC Alumni involvement by developing an Alumni Association and organizing alumni events, networking opportunities, and professional development programs.
- Direct the development of alumni communications, including newsletters, social media campaigns, and targeted outreach, to keep alumni informed, engaged and to receive feedback.
- Ensure accurate tracking of alumni engagement and participation metrics, analyzing date to inform strategic decision-making and improve outreach efforts.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote engagement and support Sauk Valley Community College.
- Coordinate with the SVCC marketing department in the development of campaigns for the community education programs, trips, and alumni events.
- Provide leadership and supervise the deparmentment Administrative Assistant and Non-credit Instructors.
- Train, assign, and supervise the work of Community Education & Alumni Engagement work study.
- Serve as a member of the administrative team, including service on Leadership Council.
- Serve as Administrator on Duty on a rotating basis (3% tort).
- Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Must understand and support the mission of the community college.
- Must have strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to work with Microsoft Office products and social media.
- Must be able to provide verbal/visual presentations to students, staff, community groups, and potential students.
- Must have the capability to travel as needed.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Personal Interaction
Frequent contact is made with all levels of College personnel, students, the general public and outside organizations in relation to routine departmental services and duties and in providing appropriate assistance and information as requested.
Supervision Excercised
Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over Business and Community Education personnel. Functional supervision is exercised over work-study students.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, marketing or related field with five years of experience communicating with public and private entities. Ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas: event and class hosting, planning and delivery, organizational skills, office products (word processing, spreadsheet, etc.), strong collaborative skills. An understanding of adult learning and seniors’ education, marketing, sales, employee training and community organization is required.
