1. How does online tutoring work?

After making an appointment using your SVCC email, we will send you a confirmation which includes the Google Meets link. Please have all material and questions ready before your appointment begins.

2. Do I need an appointment for tutoring?

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Students may schedule an appointment using the Schedule Appointment button, by emailing, or by calling the Learning Commons Tutoring Department. We are available Mondays - Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays (online only) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

3. Is the staff qualified to tutor me?

Our Learning Commons tutors are qualified in almost all levels of courses offered at Sauk Valley Community College. Our professional tutors have a Bachelor degree in their specialty area(s) and our peer tutors are high achieving students recommended by faculty.

4. Will the tutors check my homework for me?

Students are responsible for attending classes and completing their homework. It is not our tutors' responsibility to check homework. Tutors are available to answer questions about assignments and to clarify concepts.

5. What is the cost of tutoring in the Learning Commons?

Learning Commons services are FREE to all SVCC students.
