Use of College Facilities
Priorities
The following lists the purposes for which College facilities may be used, in priority order:
- SVCC classroom instruction (no fees assessed)
- College-related activities initiated by or participated in by SVCC faculty, staff or students (no fees assessed)
- Cooperative activities with other educational institutions
- Cooperative activities with not-for-profit groups
- Commercial activities
Rental Rates
Rates are per day or any part of a day unless otherwise noted. The College reserves the right to vary from this schedule, at the discretion of the Director of Facilities

Direct Costs
Direct costs are those which may be connected clearly with an activity. Examples of direct costs are equipment, supplies, electrical hookups, air conditioning, heating, custodial staff, security staff, and lighting equipment operators. The following rates are assessed for direct costs.

Negotiated rates or exceptions to the rates will be determined by the Director of Facilities. The College reserves the right to vary from this schedule, at the discretion of the Director of Facilities
Insurance
A certificate of insurance will be required from all organizations. A certificate of insurance that names SVCC as an additional insured will be required.
Reservation Process
All individuals or groups wishing to reserve College facilities must contact the Information Center. All outside groups, must complete an “Agreement Granting Use of College Facilities.” Requests for equipment, special set-ups, or other special arrangements should be made to the Information Center, which will coordinate with the appropriate College departments. A “Buildings and Grounds Set-Up Request” form is available.
Use of Marquee Message Sign
The outside marquees will be utilized only for College-related activities, in accordance with the College’s agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation authorizing placement of the marquee on IDOT’s right-of-way.
Casual Use of Open Space
Any individual or group using the open spaces on the College campus for casual recreational purposes may do so for lawful purposes, provided that the activity does not create unreasonable risk of (1) interfering with College approved activities, (2) causing damage to College property or grounds, (3) bodily harm, (4) damages to rights on uninvolved third parties. Any person making casual use shall cease the use upon demand of a College administrator or security officer.
