Requesting an Appointment
Walk-in Consultations
While the Writing Center does accept walk-ins for in-person consultations, we encourage you to schedule an appointment ahead of time as that guarantees your timeslot. Walk-ins are served around scheduled appointments on a first come, first served basis.
How to Schedule an In-Person or Online Appointment with the Writing Center
To schedule an appointment, please visit us on Navigate360. From the landing page, you will be able to see a big blue button on the righthand side that says "Schedule an Appointment." You can make an appointment with the Writing Center by selecting us from the dropdown menu; you will also see the Tutoring Center, Library, Student Services, TRIO, and Financial Aid on the list.
Online appointments will take place through Google Meets. The link for the online appointment will be included in the email confirming your appointment. When you click on the appointment link, you will be placed in a waiting room where you will need to wait for the host to start the session.
If you have questions, please reach out to us by either emailing us at writing.center@svcc.edu or by calling 815-835-6398. We will be happy to assist you.
Canceling an Appointment
We understand that life happens and schedules change, so if you need to cancel an appointment, you are able to do so on Navigate360 up to one hour before your appointment is scheduled to begin. If you need to cancel after this one-hour window, please call or email us as soon as possible so that we can open your timeslot to other students.
Please do not no-show--it is disrespectful to your consultant and to the other students at Sauk who might have been able to take the timeslot. If we notice that a student makes a habit of no-showing, that student may not be allowed to schedule appointments ahead of time and will be restricted to walk-in consultations only.
What to Bring with You to Your Consultation
Please arrive to your appointment on time to the best of your ability and bring the following things with you: your assignment sheet or essay prompt (if applicable) and a copy of the document (either hardcopy or electronic) you'd like to work on (or any notes or prewriting you've done if you haven't started writing yet). We have both desktops and laptops available for your use if you need one for your consultation.
We hope to see you soon!
