Function of the Job

Furnish the College with graphic design services, photography needs, videography, and in-house printing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Propose and follow a college budget that supports College marketing efforts and print shop needs.
  2. Create designs for college employees and College related organizations.
  3. Prepare design files for in-house employees and outside vendors.
  4. Provide videography assistance for entire SVCC campus.
  5. Edit photo, video and audio files for final commercial use.
  6. Create graphic animations for commercial, web, and social media use.
  7. Prepare Creative Briefs for campaign projects.
  8. Meet with faculty and staff for design needs such as graphics selection, layout, paper choice, and budget requirements.
  9. Meet with suppliers to ensure quality of printing of college materials.
  10. Perform high-quality in-house printing processes for faculty and staff.
  11. Responsible for the production, quotes, and scheduling of all outsourced printing and promotional material requests.
  12. Operate copier center equipment and related equipment involved in printing process, such as jogging and folding machines and electronic paper cutter.
  13. Photograph campus events, coordinate all photo shoots by outside vendors and maintain photo archives.
  14. Oversee paper inventory and ordering of stock and supplies.
  15. Oversee cleaning and maintenance of all equipment
  16. Keep records/logs and prepare monthly reports showing charges for printing services.
  17. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Functions

  1. Must understand and support the mission of the community college.
  2. Must have good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  3. Must be able to communicate by telephone and email on a daily basis.
  4. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and withstand periods of time standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  5. Must be proficient in layout and design software (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Canva, Microsoft Office) and basic computer operation.
  6. Must be proficient in the video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro.
  7. Must know how to use field audio recording equipment.
  8. Must have a good understanding of video recording equipment.
  9. Must have a good understanding of video and flash lighting.
  10. Must be proficient with pre-press specifications.
  11. Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
  12. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Personal Interaction

Daily interaction occurs with the supervisor. Frequent interaction and personal contact is made with all levels of College staff, faculty, students, and outside organizations in relation to specific departmental services and duties, and with vendors and suppliers pertaining to new products and applications.

Supervision Excercised

Functional supervision is exercised over designated work-study personnel.

Requirements

Associate degree in graphic design or relevant field with at least six years of graphic design experience required.
