About Skyhawk Athletics

The mythical Skyhawk bird is a strong, fast, driven creature that is fierce yet cooperative with others. This can be said of our athletes as well. We take pride in our athletics as we offer 12 sports (six men's and six women's) at the highest level of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competition.

Athletics Mission Statement

The Sauk Valley Community College Athletic Program will function as an integral part of the College and the community, and will provide an environment that develops and promotes academic, social and athletic excellence.

Vision

To provide the premier athletic program in the region that strives to reach the highest level of success, serves as a positive community influence, and demonstrates a source of pride for all students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Goals

• Offer student-athletes the opportunity to compete at regional to national levels and to strive for competitive excellence.
• Provide student athletes with support systems to promote academic success.
• Demonstrate integrity and promote a positive image of the athletic department to internal and external constituencies.
• Provide staffing and resources that facilitate athletic success.
• Adhere to athletic and academic guidelines of the NJCAA, Region IV, the Arrowhead Conference and Sauk Valley Community College.
• Recruit competitive and diverse rosters.
