FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

The Sauk Valley Community College Marketing Manager is responsible for all marketing needs of the College. The Marketing Manager serves as a key team member and an active participant in establishing the infrastructure and overall planning of multimedia development of the college’s marketing and videography. The Marketing Manager organizes and implements multimedia to continue and expand the success of resource development initiatives, including, but not limited to, commercials, commencement, student activities, online teaching and learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and evaluate effectiveness of a marketing plan that supports the College mission and strategic plan. Propose and follow a college budget that supports the marketing plan. Develop, lead, and coordinate appropriate marketing activities throughout all segments of the College while maintaining the College’s brand. Plan, coordinate, create, edit and produce all videography for the college including for Marketing, Academics, Athletics, Foundation, and Community Partnerships.  Design, transport, set up, and operate production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field and studio productions.  Ensure quality of sound, light, and clarity of all videos. Conceive of and develop creative solutions for addressing college initiatives and strategic goals through audiovisual assets. Execute shoots on site/on location including audio, camera operation and talent directions. Additionally, the Videographer handles assignments requiring special lighting, multiple locations, creativity, special audio needs, custom graphics and animation.  Scout shoot locations and assesses possible obstacles in filming and provides solutions or alternatives.  Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni, college partners and others and ensures that valuable sound bites are captured. Plans and performs video post-production tasks, including reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, adding photographs, motion pictures, motion graphics, animation, audio and music, and final editing using Adobe Premiere or appropriate software; utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts; compresses/encodes video projects for output; makes video products available in a variety of formats; observes brand standards, ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product; and coordinates internal and external duplication services as required. Create and enforce video and photography branded looks. Train employees and students on equipment and software to photograph and video SVCC athletes, sporting events, and staff.  Develop story board and list of shots.  Review projects performed by employees and students to make sure they meet branding and quality expectations. Assist faculty, staff, and students create intriguing educational videos for student learning and promotional materials. Assumes all other reasonable and professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Frequent contact is made with all levels of College personnel, students, the general public and outside organizations in relation to routine departmental services and duties and in providing appropriate assistance and information as requested.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Supervision of Marketing Coordinator and Senior Graphic Designer/Print Shop Supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a minimum of six years of progressively responsible professional experience in multimedia, photography, videography, or a related area.

Coordinates the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring conditions, events and circumstances present through daily College operations, and communicating observations to the appropriate supervisor or taking necessary actions to correct, prevent or limit safety problems.
